USS Saratoga (CV-60)

Forrestal-class supercarrier; her air wing flew some of the first strikes of Operation Desert Storm.

History

USS Saratoga (CV/CVA/CVB-60) was the second of four Forrestal-class supercarriers built for the United States Navy in the 1950s. Saratoga was the sixth U.S. Navy ship, and the second aircraft carrier, to be named after the Battles of Saratoga in the American Revolutionary War. Commissioned in 1956, she spent most of her career in the Mediterranean, but also participated during the Vietnam War, receiving one battle star for her service. One of her last operational duties was to participate in Operation Desert Storm.

Example reports

Did a relative serve aboard USS Saratoga (CV-60)? A report can show the dates and pages that place them there. Records that place a person aboard a ship are muster rolls, morning reports, unit rosters or discharge papers; a ship history alone doesn't prove someone took part in an event.
